This huge stick insect originates from the Philippines and is a member of a species which does not have a common English name, but whose scientific (Latin) name is Pharnacia ponderosa.

From the head to the end of the abdomen her body measures more than 20cm, whereas with her front legs outstretched as in these pictures she is close to 30cm in total length! Whilst this may sound enormous, and indeed it is, the largest stick insect ever had a total length including its legs of more than 56cm!
